Dogs in the Communal Garden
A number of residents have reported dogs running loose in the estate garden as well as
fouling on the grass.

We’d like to remind dog owners that not only is the garden a communal space it is also the
children’s play area. While we understand your pet is likely to be an important part of your
family, others including parents and children are afraid of dogs running loose. Some parents
have told us they do not take their children to play in the garden for that reason.
If you own a dog, please be a responsible owner and:
◎ keep your dog on a lead in the garden
◎ clean up after your dog if it fouls
Not only is dog mess unsightly and smelly, but it is also – more importantly – a health
hazard. Contact with dog faeces can cause serious illness and can even lead to blindness.
Failure to pick up and dispose of your dog’s mess from any public space is against the law
and can result in a £100 fine, or up to a maximum of £1,000 if you are prosecuted.
Reporting dog issues:
If you feel threatened by a dog running loose in the garden or witness someone not cleaning
up after their dog:
◉ make a note of the date, time and place and
◉ report it to the Anti-social Behaviour Team on 020 7527 7272
The ASB team will be able to follow this up by viewing the incident on CCTV and then take
the appropriate action.
You can also report all issues via your ‘My Islington’ account which is available to all
Islington residents. If you do not have an account, you can register for one here:
